(More customer reviews)First off, I would point out that one of the most difficult parts of buying dancewear online is understanding fitting for a particular product. I bought these new on sale to use for ballroom dance, and I am disappointed by the strange fitting of this shoe. My street shoe size is about a 6.5 or 7 (women's, average width) and my ballroom shoes (both latin and smooth) are 5.5 (fitted smaller to accommodate for leather stretching out over time and support the arch, as recommended). I bought these under the impression that they would be fitted according to street (ie regular) shoe size, however my foot has PLENTY of extra room. Without regular white sport socks, I am able to remove my toes from the toe of the shoe with the shoe buckled. The elastic gusset is simply not tight enough to hold my foot in place. *Therefore, I would recommend two major things: first, purchasing about a size smaller than your regular shoes size, and second, NOT using these for ballroom dance.* I had hoped that I could use these as an in-between latin and standard/smooth shoe to practice in; I figured the hard leather would last longer than the suede bottoms ballroom shoes have, and that the piecewise construction with the toe and its elastic gusset separate from the supporting ankle strap (rather than the more common, solid character shoe) would allow for a slightly more pointed toe. Because of the fit however, the shoe just rubbed uncomfortably on my toes, and I eventually ended up buying real ballroom shoes. If you are seeking a low-cost ballroom shoe (for latin or non-latin), go ahead with Very Fine. They are not the best built shoes, but are certainly built for ballroom.
If you are going to opt for these, keep these things in mind:
Fit: Order a half-size to a full size smaller than your usual street shoe size.
Flexibility: The bottom is hard leather, so there only a minimal amount of ability for the shoe to flex.
Asethetics: The inability of the elastic to hold my foot resulted in a "bloated" effect--that is, my feet looked wider than they really are. The wide strap is a plus toward comfort, but is not terribly becoming. The "caramel" color is not orange-y or fake-tan colored, so I'd give Capezio a thumbs up on the appeal of the actual color. Hopefully by having a more accurate fit, these shoes will have a slimmer look.
